about

A new track from Sincerely, Iris based on the story of Bonnie and Clyde.
The music of Sincerely, Iris is a love letter to the road. Todd Murray has moved all over the country since leaving a small town in southern Ohio many years ago. His music is influenced by all of the places he's traveled.
From the vast view of the mountains and the thriving folk scene in Colorado, to the crackling bluesy energy of Chicago, to the rich musical history of Savannah, Georgia. Each place that Todd has lived has left it's own musical imprint on his sound.

lyrics

Lyrics:
There you were leaning on the record machine. I could feel you in my bones.
There you were staring right back at me like a secret I should know.

The song that played in that old cafe was blues; dark and mean.
I saw your eyes change from blue to green.

There you were in the back of my mind you were just past 17.
Guns in the car with a handful of jellybeans.

Small town boy meets a small town girl with a hundred different dreams
Small town boy takes that same sad girl and leaves.

Cyanide; my valentine so violent and free
Oh my sweet Bonnie

There you were leaning on my window babe as we fled that dead end scene
All we owned was a car full of gas and dreams

I can feel you breathing as you fall asleep with your head up against my arm.
I know what you’re feeling when you don’t say a word at all.

Cyanide; my valentine the only light I see
Oh my sweet Bonnie

Broken homes and broken bones a childhood unkind
Rolling away from the pain that we left behind

Candles burn in the hotel room where we stole all we could take
Love we were sure would acquit us of all our mistakes

Cyanide, suicide, nobody can compete.
Oh my sweet Bonnie

Lived a hundred lives in a very short time ‘for the police made the find
Love we were sure it gon’ break all the rules of time

Small town boy meets a small town girl with a hundred different dreams.
Small town boy takes that same sad girl and leaves.

You and I were dynamite, a tragedy complete.
Oh my sweetheart, oh my sweetheart, goodnight sweet Bonnie

about

Sincerely, Iris Richmond, Virginia

Sincerely, Iris consists of singer/songwriter Todd Murray. He has a sound that can be summed up best as “road trip music.” It’s a style that’s always changing, and always moving along. Whether it be gypsy-esque or like Kerouac's beat up old truck, shaking down the road at midnight, it is at once comforting, and somewhat unknown. He draws upon influences from Jeff Buckley to Billie Holiday. ... more
